The Frontier Airlines World MasterCard is currently having a limited time sign up bonus of 40,000 Frontier miles.
I’d definitely categorize the Frontier Airlines World MasterCard as a niche card.
What I mean by that is that this card could be great for certain markets, but in general I wouldn’t suggest building up a lot of Frontier miles unless you had a specific reason why those miles are valuable to you.
Frontier Airlines World MasterCard:
- Earn 40,000 bonus miles after spending $500 in purchases in the first 90 days.
- Redeem companion award tickets for 5,000 miles less.
Frontier Award Chart:
- Travel within the US (including Alaska) 20,000 miles RT
- Travel to/from Mexico & Costa Rica 30,000 miles RT
- Travel to/from Jamaica 30,000 miles RT
In my opinion, the best Barclaycard is the Barclay Arrival World MasterCard. That’s a card I wouldn’t mind using for everyday spending because you essentially get 2% back per dollar spent (or 2.2% if you use your points for travel). However, if you’re looking for a card for a specific trip, the current bonus on the Frontier Airlines World MasterCard might make it a worthwhile application.
What I’m doing: For now, I’m going to sit this card out. I just got the Arrival card, so I need to wait a little while before applying for another Barclaycard. However, if this offer came up in a few months, I’d probably jump on it just to use for our flights down to Phoenix.

The card holder has to purchase a ticket for himself and then gets to use the companion award ticket, right?
Are you asking if it needs to be a combination of a revenue ticket and an award ticket? If that’s the question then the answer is no. If the primary card holder redeems an award ticket for him/herself then they can also redeem an award ticket for a companion for 5,000 miles less.
