In the past there have always been some ethically questionable ways to get Hilton Gold status. It requires making a virtual move to Australia or becoming eligible by pretending to have a certain credit card. I’ve never written about any of those types of options.
However, there’s currently a great way to easily score Hilton Gold status – a Milepoint Premium Membership.
The best part of this offer is that you get other travel perks as well.
Milepoint Premium Membership
Cost = $49.95
While there are many additional benefits, here are a few of my favorites:
Hilton Gold Status through Feb 2015
As a Gold member, you’ll get free breakfast, free internet, 25% more points and the fifth night free on standard award night stays.
Of course, there are other ways to get Hilton Gold status with credit cards - sign up for the Hilton Reserve credit card (with a $95 annual fee) or sign up for the Hilton Surpass credit card (with a $75 annual fee).
1,000 United Miles
Depending on how you use your miles, you ought to be able to get at least 1 cent per mile value out of these points. That’s at least a $10 value.
10% off the Purchase of Hyatt Gift Cards (up to $5,000)
If I had a reason to buy $5,000 worth of Hyatt gift cards, I’d jump on this offer in a second. If you frequently stay at Hyatt branded hotels, this would be a great way to get 10% off all your future stays in addition to all the other promotions.
National Rent a Car Executive Status
If you rent from National, you’ll be able to enjoy free upgrades and other benefits.
20% off an Expert Flyer membership
If you’re an Expert Flyer member, this is an easy way to save $20.
You can see all the other partner offers/benefits here.
Why I’m sitting this offer out:
It is a great offer, but I’m not going to be signing up. The biggest reason is because I’m traveling a lot less these days, and I have zero concrete plans to stay at a Hilton in the next year. If/when I end up planning to stay in a Hilton again, I’ll definitely be signing up for the Hilton Reserve in order to take advantage of the free weekend nights and the Gold Status. I definitely think Gold status makes a big difference on your Hilton experience when you’re able to get the free breakfast.
By the way, 10% of the cost of your membership will be donated to charity.
