Update: The Chase Sapphire Preferred best bonus is now 40,000 UR points.
As many of you know, right now I’m in Papua New Guinea. That means while you work, I sleep.
I woke up this morning to a flurry of blog posts about the possible drop of the Chase Sapphire Preferred sign up bonus. At the time of this posting, the bonus is
50,000 Ultimate Rewards points 40,000 Ultimate Rewards points.
So, what’s the concern?
On the Chase website, they are only displaying a 40,000 point bonus, but through my link they are still offering 50,000.
What should we make of the discrepancy?
I’m putting my money on the fact that the rumors are true. I think a decrease in the sign up bonus is coming soon (just a prediction).
1. Earlier this year, Chase required all their affiliates to update the language on the card. I was asked to add the phrase “Limited Time Offer” to descriptions about the card. Thus, Chase has been indicating that the bigger bonus will be going away.
2. I’ve already predicted it here.
3. For several months, I’ve heard that the promotion might be going away in March. Every time I read that, I thought ‘what do they know’. I get information about promotions and changes that are coming, and I never heard March. But perhaps they knew something I didn’t know.
4. It simply makes no sense for them to continue the 50,000 offer. The card is much better than anything else in its field. The bonus is way better than anything it is competing against. It will still be a very competitive offer at 40,000, so why not reduce the bonus?
Why would Chase change its website, but allow others to continue to promote it for 50,000?
Things move slowly at Chase. I bet it’s in the works.
These are all just my assumptions!
If you want to get in on the 50,000 Ultimate Reward sign up bonus offer, it is too late. However, to get the 40,000 sign up bonus click here (my affiliate link).
