Random Travel Tips You Don’t Want to Miss

Chase Sapphire Preferred Bonus Dropping to 40,000 on the 3rd of April.

The expected email came yesterday.

Tuesday, April 3rd, at 10 a.m. the 50,000 Chase Sapphire Preferred offer is going to be pulled.  The card will still be around, but it appears as if the sign up bonus will drop to 40,000.  If you want to get in on the offer while there is an extra 10,000 on the table, this is your time to act.

After publishing my last article that the writing was on the wall about the bigger bonus being removed, I went ahead and applied for the card for myself.  My wife already has the card.

Here’s my 50,000 point sign up link.

Citi ThankYou Confusion

This week I posted an article about upcoming changes to Citi ThankYou points.  I mentioned that they would be transferable to BA points.

I got an email saying:

The information posted on DansDeals.com regarding transferring ThankYou Points to certain international airlines is not accurate. ThankYou members can redeem points for travel on any airline with no blackout dates in the ThankYou Travel Center. Currently ThankYou members cannot directly transfer their ThankYou Points to an airline.

But, Dan is hesitant to retract his story.  Here’s his timeline on how he confirmed the deal.  I guess we’ll know soon if it is going to happen or not.

Priority Club PointBreaks List Updated

Two bits of information here.  First, check out the updated list of PointBreaks locations.  These are locations that only require 5,000 points right now.  Second, if there is a property you’re interested in but you don’t have the points necessary, you can also buy discounted points right now.

I was able to get 5 night in Budapest for 25,000 points and a night in Newark for 5,000 at the Crowne Plaza.

Loyalty Traveler has a good write up on the cost of buying points.
