Welcome to another around the web adventure where I help you discover some of the best travel deals and offers from around the web.
Let’s get started with some updates and changes to some current credit card offers.
First off, I sent my subscribers an email letting them know of a possible change with the Ink Bold program. The program did change (biggest difference is the removal of the spending bonuses). However, the 50,000 point sign up bonus is still around – whew!
Secondly, the American Express Business Gold card has removed the 50,000 point offer.
Booo! I was busy monitoring what Chase was doing with the Ink Bold, and American Express snuck in there and sucked the life out of a decent card offer.
Autoslash.com. I’ve heard other people recommend this website for car rentals. It wasn’t until this week that I understood why. When you rent a card with autoslash, they monitor the reservation. If they find anything cheaper, they’ll automatically rebook you at the cheapest rate.
This week I booked a car to pick up in DFW. About 15 minutes later, I received an email informing me that they found a rate that was about $20 cheaper and they automatically rebooked my rental.
Today, I’ll also add a shout out to ExpertFlyer.com. This website has both a free membership and a paid membership. I use Expert Flyer when I’m helping people find award ticket availability.
I’d never used their alert services before, but a few months ago, I set an alert to let me know when two seats open up on a particular flight. Our family was traveling together as far as Chicago, but my son and I had to wait in the airport a couple of hours because we couldn’t all get the same flight to Toronto.
But this week I got an email from ExpertFlyer telling me that two award seats were open on my flight of preference.
One quick call to United (and no extra fees), and our family is all on the same flight.
I received an email this week telling me that American Airlines and Award Wallet have differences. As a result, American has asked Award Wallet not to show their information. Award Wallet is working on a work around so it may still be possible to get the information.
Deals we like highlights the current Delta transfer and purchase options. Since it’s hard to redeem low level flights with Delta, I would only do this if you have an itinerary you know you can and want to book soon.
If you visit United/Gilt link you can earn 1,500 United miles with a single purchase. To make this offer ‘work’, you’d need to find the cheapest item possible.
View from the Wing posted that you can buy US Airways points for a 100% bonus.
Mommy Points highlights a list of the current best American Express sign up bonus offers. Notice specifically that the Starwood card 30,000 bonus is back.
The Points Guy introduces the American Express Membership Rewards 30% transfer bonus to Avios miles.
