General Announcements with Apologies, Excuses, and an Assignment

Hello, fellow travelers and wanna be travelers!

If you travel very much, you’ll probably understand the sentiment of this post.  If not, it will just sound like a lame excuse.

You may, or may not have noticed that over the last month my posting frequency has slowed down.  That is mostly because I’ve been doing a fair bit of traveling.  Our family just finished up 33 consecutive days in hotels.  Our hotel room didn’t have a desk in the bedroom, so when I wanted to work I was forced to sit in the living room where the kids were playing – not an environment conducive to work.

I tried the business center in the hotel, but the morning I was there a guy brought a whole handful of candy into the room and decided to crunch on it, not suck.  Grrrrr.

Between a trip to Canada and our travels back to Papua New Guinea, I haven’t taken the time to keep up with the posting on this site.

I’m glad to announce that I’m back in my own office, back in my own routine, and ready to go.

Website Redesign

While I was in Los Angeles, I decided that I would change the website theme at .  Stop by and let me know what you think.  I know that the new design makes it harder to get at all of my articles, but I also think it will help newbies access the most important articles.  Send me an email (htcheap at gmail dot com) or leave a comment if you have any suggestions or notice any quirks.

Travel Free Coach: All Free Endeavour

I’ve been trying to find a way to provide better quality services to those of you who follow me on or  As an experiment (that I hope will remain permanent), I’m changing all my coaching services at the Travel Free Coach into free services

I’m benefiting from you as a reader.  When you use an affiliate link on my website to sign up for a credit card, I get a payout from the credit card company.  So I’m benefiting from your patronage.  I know you’re benefiting too by getting quality information and tips to help you travel free.  But I’ve been feeling like I’m benefiting more than I’m giving.

The result: an experiment in free services.

The free services will remain in place as long as it is sustainable in terms of my time.  Remember, I do have a full-time job, and I also maintain a personal finance blog (  As long as the time commitment is reasonable, I’d like to keep doing it for free.

One String Attached

I am attaching one string to one of my services – the reward booking assistance.  That service can be very time demanding (especially since I’m back in the land of painfully slow internet).  As a result, I’m limiting that service to people who have used an affiliate link on this website to sign up for a credit card.  Remember, this is not a full booking service; it’s simply a service where I help point you in the right direction when you are trying to book travel with your miles.
