Chase Freedom 2013 Bonus Categories
As a Freedom card holder each quarter you have the opportunity to earn 5 points per dollar on select rotating categories. There is a limit to the 5x categories of $1,500 per quarter for a total of 7,500 bonus points per quarter.
Chase released the 5% bonus categories for 2013.

What’s really cool about the Chase Freedom card is that there is a way to transfer these points to airlines like United, Southwest or British Airways. You can even transfer them to hotels like Hyatt.
Chase Freedom Points Can Be Transfered to Ultimate Rewards
In order to transfer those points, you’ll need to have an Ultimate Rewards earning card in addition to your Freedom card. Ultimate Rewards earning cards include:
Thus, the 5% bonus categories will yield 5 points/miles per dollar spent.
If you wish you can accumulate Freedom points, and then eventually get an eligible Ultimate Rewards card and transfer your points for a combined total. Essentially, your Freedom points with transfer to Ultimate Rewards points.
The advantage is that you can get much more than 1 penny per point value out of each point if you can transfer the points to an airline.
