Sorry this month’s best credit card roundup report is a little late. I delayed publishing it until after the British Airways Visa promotions was over since that was clearly the best card offering at the time.

This month is the month where some great contenders have dropped off (or will drop off the list).
Last month we said goodbye to the Capital One Venture Rewards 100,000 point bonus. He’s out goodbye’s this month:
Best Airline Miles Rewards Credit Cards
Chase is be offering 40,000 bonus points with a Chase Sapphire Preferred card. That will be the best credit card offer available this month. You can convert that into about $500 worth of free travel or $500 worth of gift cards. Learn more here or sign up now.
Gone:
British Airways 100,000 miles sign up offer. I really hope as many of you as possible got in on the offer while it was available.
Reduced:
*The American Express Platinum was featured in our April 2011 best credit card list. It was featured because of a solid bonus offering and great travel benefits. However, the signup bonus is now reduced to 25,000, making it much less appealing (unless you can take advantage of the travel benefits).
Going, Going:
If memory serves me correctly, the 50,000 Continental card bonus will expire around the 15th of May, 2011. In my opinion, it is the current best credit card sign up bonus offer available. However, if you got in on the British Airways promotion, you may have trouble immediately getting approved for this card as they are both Chase cards.
I have seen indications that the American Airlines 75,000 miles bonus offer is still in play. The terms and conditions say that the offer expires Feb 28th, 2011, but the link still works. This week I read that people are reporting getting accepted and getting miles. l personally can’t confirm that, but if you want to take a risk, the 75,000 American offer is amazing.
From there, we have a few decent offers related to different programs. None of these are outstanding, but if you want to top off an account, you could consider one of the following:
- *Southwest credit card –25,000 points which translates to around $416.50 worth of Southwest flights
- *Chase Sapphire Preferred – 40,000 bonus points after spending $3,000 in the first month.
- *Starwood American Express – Up to 25,000 points. 10,000 after your first purchase and 15,000 if you spend $5,000 in the first six months.
* I’ve put an asterisks beside credit cards that I’m an affiliate for. This means I get a referral bonus if you sign up for these cards using my link. I disclose this information in these roundups so you can evaluate my suggestions in light of this fact. I don’t try to let that fact influence my decisions, but if I do you can catch me because of the astericks :).

Hi experts,
can you help me figure out one thing before submitting a credit card application: what is the credit and income criteria that I must meet in order to receive a World Premier Mastercard (Barclays)? If I don’t figure that out in advance I will automatically receive a Platinum Mastercard, which I might not be interested in…
Thanks,
Felix
Felix,
Thanks for the question but unfortunately I don’t have an answer for you. Each credit card company and each card has their own standards and I couldn’t even begin to guess what score you would need. Sorry.
Hi ,
I have been approved for 5 cards in the last 2 months . Currently , Delta offer me
40,000 points and 75$ back after buying ticket , plus 2 Delta sky club one day passes . Waive 1st year . Then 95 $ . Is it a good offer to apply Since I am not a Delta fan and what is the sky club one day passes . Thank you very much , James
James,
I would do a Delta offer for 40,000 miles. I don’t think it is worth it. However, if you like Delta it could be a decent offer. I’d rather take advantage of something else if I were to use a credit inquiry.
